Buying Live Aquarium Fish Online

You’ve got many choices when purchasing live aquarium fish online these days. Traditionally, saltwater aquarists would head into their local fish stores hoping to find something new and exotic. Location and transportation prohibited those who lived far from the coast from enjoying the incredible diversity of saltwater fish the ocean holds. But now, with overnight shipping and improved collection methods, hobbyists everywhere can enjoy live aquarium fish in their homes.

Buying saltwater fish online is very similar to buying them at a local fish store, however there are a few things you should know in order to ensure your buying experience is a good one. Below are some tips for making your purchase.

Breeding Betta Fishes

Betta fishes are in reality very sociable fish as long as you don’t place two males together. They can be very easily kept with most other fish, and what you truly have to watch out for is the fish that bothers bettas.

Betta fishes are slow moving fish with incredibly long fins, so they can’t be placed with any fast moving fish that is being known for it’s fin-nipping, like zebra danios. They get along in a very good manner with most breeds of tetras, and you can let your baby betta fish grow with baby neons.

Trout Fishing Baits
By Trevor Kugler

There are probably an endless number of trout fishing baits available to the average angler, but in this article I’m going to discuss the trout fishing bait that are the most effective and popular for most anglers. Trout can be a very finicky fish, but are also known to eat things such as “cheese”. This has always been a personal dilemma for me, because I dearly love to catch trout, but have a difficult time catching a fish that can be caught on “cheese”. This is why I personally make the distinction between native trout and stocked trout. In my world, stocked trout are nothing more than glorified pets, and I don’t even like to catch them. For me a trout isn’t a trout unless it’s native, which means lives and has grown up in the waters that I’m fishing. So for the purposes of this article, these trout fishing baits will be mostly for trout that aren’t stocked, and thus would have no interest in eating something like “cheese”.

Fishing The Great Lakes

Together the Great Lakes contain the biggest mass amount of freshwater in the world. These lakes lie between the United States and Canada. They are home to many different fish species. Some of the most common inhabitants of the Great Lakes are the various species of Trout, Salmon, Perch, and Bass. However, each lake is known for its own popular fish species.

For over 100 years these lakes have housed the world’s largest freshwater fisheries, containing both native and introduced species. Commercial fishing has declined in the past 100 years, but still relies heavily of the fish of the Great Lakes. On each lake there are fishing charters that go out of the many ports each day.
